CIAAT has recently seen the launch of their new, 3rdgeneration, CTP-3010 printer. What sets the 3rd generation printers apart from older dye subs is a 4 process colour (YMC +Black) printing option resulting in a significantly higher d-max (2,35) and vastly superior tonal range which has always been a bit of a problem for 1st and 2ndgeneration dye subs.
The 3010 in fact manages 4 process colour printing incredibly well without any real significant reduction in print speed, delivering a 4×6” print in 10 seconds as opposed to mainstream 2nd generation dye subs managing a 4×6” print in around 8 seconds. Of course the CIAAT printer will also detect when standard 3 process colour media has been loaded and it is then capable of producing a 4×6” print in a blistering fast 7 seconds!
The 3010 also boasts the largest range of available print sizes all the way up to 6×12” (panoramic) and is capable of producing all of these different sizes (apart from 5×7”) without the need of ever changing the high capacity (960 x 4×6”), 6” roll of media except of course when the roll eventually runs out! The optional ‘dry lab’ utility software also allows for ‘combo printing’ which means the user can print a combination of 4×6” and 6×8” prints during a single print run.
Until now, the only drawback of the 3010 has been the fact that it could only produce gloss finish prints. That however is all about to change as CIAAT has just finalised the pre-Easter launch of the 3010’s updated ‘multi-finish’ Windows drivers. Multi-finish drivers for Mac are currently under development and are expected to be available early summer.
Photomart is appointed the exclusive pan European (including UK & Ireland) and Africa distributor for CIAAT printers and media and are proud to be associated with the CIAAT brand.
