The JPEG has been around for almost 20 years (guidelines for the JPEG set out in 1992). And like repeats of Friends, X-Files, Ally McBeal and Frasier it now looks pretty dated.
However the guys at Google, as they always do, have been looking at ways of making imaging more efficient – introducing WebP (pronounced “weppy”)
