Yesterday (2nd Sept) Photomart were given an exclusive preview of Sony’s new Dry MiniLab at their Basingstoke branch. I cannot give away too much because Sony will be revealing all at Photokina, but what I can say is that it will push the boundaries of (dry) print quality and retail customer interfaces.

There is a flawed perception that the advent of digital photography has “killed” the high street photo lab, but this cannot be further from the truth. What digital photography has done was to cause a revolution in the photo lab and photo retail industries. Understandably there have been a number of casualties but with it also came many new and exciting opportunities.
